Deleting the saved preferences file
Sometimes it is necessary to delete the saved preferences file. For
example, if the saved preferences file specifies "In-Browser" mode and
no tool bar then it is difficult to access the Change Preference Set
screen to change user preferences. Note that deleting the saved
preferences file removes all infomation about preference sets and the
host list.
- Quit JET 3270.
- Exit the browser.
- Locate the saved preferences file.
The location of the saved preferences file depends on the web
browser:
- Communicator
- Windows 95
If Communicator was installed in the default directory
then the saved preferences file is:
C:\Program
Files\Netscape\Users\user\jet3270.prf
where user is the profile name.
- Solaris, HP-UX, Linux and AIX
The saved preferences file is:
~/.netscape/jet3270.prf
- OS/2
If Communicator was installed in the default directory
then the saved preferences file is:
C:\NETSCAPE\Users\user\jet3270.prf
where user is the profile name.
- Internet Explorer
- Windows 95
If Windows 95 was installed in the default directory, then
the saved preference file is:
C:\WINDOWS\JAVA\jet3270.prf
The general rule is that the saved preferences file is called
jet3270.prf and is stored in the user's
home directory as given by
the browser (i.e. the user.home system property).
- Use the method appropriate to the operating system to delete the
saved preferences file (eg. Windows Explorer, the rm command).
